The family moved to Porterville, CA where Sadie attended Porterville Public Schools for 1st thru 10th. The family moved to La Sierra and Sadie graduated from La Sierra Academy in 1925. Sadie was baptized in the Tule River (Porterville) at age 9. In La Sierra, Sadie met and married Claremore E. Fenderson in 1926. And they made their home in Shafter in 1938, where Fendy drove truck for Earnest Adamson. Sadie worked several years during grape season for Earnest. In 1942 the family moved to the Farm on Orange Ave. Life was great on the farm a family affair with the kids, Clarabelle Edith, Claremore Jr. and Darleen Dawn working together, baling hay, chopping cotton, harvesting potatoes, it was fun days to work and play together. It was a busy place and time for family and always an open place of activity for all. Sadie was always full of ideas of fun, travel, and always planning something. She was very active in her church, Shafter Seventh-day Adventist and school, playing piano, helping in childrens programs, Vacation Bible School crafts etc., then later in the community services. Sadie was an expert seamstress and made many wedding dresses. She could see a dress and go home and make it! Sadie had many hobbies, cake decorating, loved photography and even took up painting at age 65. Fendy and Sadie enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Claremore preceded Sadie in death in 1974. All of Sadies five siblings have preceded her in death. Sadie married William Everett Bartlett in 1975. After living in Glendale and San Diego they returned to Shafter and settled on Poplar Ave., both were retired. William was a real gardener and grew many good fruits and vegetables. Sadie continued in her activities as much as possible. In the year 2001 they moved to San Diego, there were there about 2 months and William passed away. She and William enjoyed 25 years of marriage. He preceded her in death July 2, 2001. Sadie lived in assisted living for a short time near her son, then with her daughter in Bakersfield. Sadie was a resident of Beverly Manor Convalescent in Bakersfield for 2 years. She was blessed with long life, mother said over and over how blessed she had been by the wonderful Lord and her good family: son, Claremore Jr. and Jacqueline Fenderson living in Colfax, CA; daughter, Darleen Dawn and Eugene Strauss living in Bakersfield, CA; 6 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many lovely family members of the large extended Bartlett family!! Sadie now awaits the coming of her Redeemer, Savior and Lord when the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will rise. She will hear her name called on that great Resurrection morn. Praise God. We wish to thank Beverly Manor staff for their loving care of mother, they make each one feel so special!
