Josephine Van Sant was born December 5, 1916 in Madison, New Jersey to Charles and Frances Romano and she passed away on February 6, 2005 in Bakersfield. Josephine moved to Bakersfield in 1952 from Plainfield, New Jersey with her husband, Charles Bryant and family. She was active in her senior center activities at Rassmussen Center and Surviving Mates. One of her passions in life was her Friday and Saturday night dancing and also creating her art through her many oil paintings. She was known by all for her energy and zest for life and will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by husbands, Charles Sylvester Bryant and later Clifford Van Sant; brother, Samuel Romano of Greenbrook, New Jersey and her beloved granddaughter, Suzanne Brown Farris of Memphis, Tennessee as of December 31, 2004. She is survived by sisters, Frances Flerx of Dunellen, New Jersey and Lillian Herbst of Lebanon, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ron Fellows of Visalia, CA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michelle Brown Miles (Memphis, TN), Charles Bryant Skinner, Michael Eugene Skinner (Springfield, MO), David Skinner (Bolivar, MO), Steve Fellows (Chico, CA), Brent Fellows (Portland, OR), Rusty Crafton (Paragould, AR) and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the staff at Parkview Julian, Odyssey Hospice and Dr. Bhangoo.
