Our brother, Doug, was born on March 26, 1945, to our parents, William Warren and Ruth Hays in Hollywood, CA. He was raised in Coalinga, CA. Our family moved to Bakersfield in 1961, where he attended BHS graduating in 1963. After his brief studies and residency at the Franciscan Seminary in Mountain View, CA, he attended Bakersfield College. He obtained his BA degree in Humanities from UC Berkeley and his Judicial Doctorate from Santa Clara University. He practiced law with the Bakersfield District Attorneys Office, thereafter, with the Young, Woolridge Firm. Later, Doug had a private practice in Bakersfield. After his marriage in 1978, he moved and practiced law in Irvine, CA. Loving Northern California, he moved to Aptos where he sold Real Estate, then later in San Francisco where he worked as a Finance and Insurance Manager for a large auto dealer. He enjoyed living on the Oakland Bay, where he could view the many festivities that took place below his apartment on the Estuary. Doug was kind, sincere and very conscientious about living his life with exemplary law abiding principals and ethics. His intellect and the remarkable storehouse of information he always had at his fingertips delighted his family and his friends. Conversation was always stimulating and entertaining. He had a great sense of humor with a quick and clever wit, often surprising us in conversation with unbelievable but factual interesting trivia. Memory of these things, in him, will keep us smiling for a long long time. His nieces and nephews will never forget his love and generosity. They remember him as the kind of uncle who loved to go on the scariest roller coaster and the biggest adventure. Fondly they remember vacations together to Washington D.C. and New York City. How he stepped into their lives as a father figure, taking them on adventurous walks in the hills of Santa Cruz, to Great America, Africa World USA, and Happy Hallow while they grieved the death of their own father. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Ruth Hays. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Milledge, and Debbie Elbadawy of Bakersfield; brother, Scott of Bend OR and Mike and Brad Hays of Bakersfield. Doug enjoyed his nephew Marks company and being a guest at his home during his last days. There are many nieces and nephews and friends who will forever keep his memory alive in their hearts.
