A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip The Apostle Church on Saturday, February 12th, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Monsignor Ronald J. Swett will officiate. Interment will follow at Union cemetery. Born in Bakersfield on May 6, 1922 to Jack and Rose Bayes, Katy attended local schools and graduated from Kern County Union High School and Bakersfield College. She was employed for over 35 years at the Kern County Tax Collectors office. Katy was thoughtful, generous and kind to all whose life she touched. She was an active participant in the volunteer ministry at St. Philips. Pope John Paul II awarded her the Benemerenti medal for extraordinary service to the Church. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. One of Katys passions was traveling. She particularly enjoyed her trip to Israel with a group of friends from St. Philips and also to Rome, Paris, Madrid and Lourdes. In addition she traveled extensively in the USA. Katy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and William Anderson; her nephew and his wife, Mark and Elizabeth Anderson and her beloved great-nephew and great-niece, John and Lauren Anderson. A special thank you to Caroline West for her friendship over the years as she was a special blessing to Katy.
