Joe was a longtime resident of Bakersfield. He was a member of Local 220 HOD Carriers Union and worked for local plastering contractors. He was a Deacon with Coronado Baptist Church as well as a longtime member of various churches pastored by Jack Lee Jr. Joe served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater as a tank driver with the 2nd Armored Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European and African Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star with 2 oak leaf clusters. Joe is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, Joe Jr. and daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Fort Worth Texas; David and Charlene Bryan of Bakersfield; stepsons, David Vorderbruegge, Ronald Martin, John Martin and wife, Tinee, Michael Martin and Bart Ciervo and stepdaughter, Joann and husband, Kenny Hill, and Nancy Raley. Dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and wonderful friends.
