Interment will follow at Kern River Valley Cemetery, in Kernville, at 1:30 p.m. Ellis was raised in the Kern River Valley. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Ellis was employed by the Kern County Sheriffs Department from May of 1945 to June of 1962. He then transferred to the Kern County District Attorneys Office where he later retired as Senior Investigator in September of 1975. Ellis enjoyed deer hunting, camping, and taking his grandchildren to Money Beach. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle and his son, Jack. He is survived by son, Joe Nord and wife, Barbara of Kenai, Alaska; daughter, Susan Gilliam, husband, Don and grand-daughter, Jennifer Herrera of Bakersfield; daughter, Sharon Moses, husband, Gary and grandchildren, Jeff Moses and Julie Stoval of Bakersfield.
