Her family moved to Bakersfield in 1924, when her father was elected district attorney. Henry Schmidt later became Superior Court Judge of Kern County. Barbara married Edmund L. Mohr Jr. in 1936. They had three children, Meredith, Jeffrey and Vicki. Jeffrey passed away as an infant in 1947. She and Ed were married 46 years until his death in 1979. Barbara married Curtis Reade in 1990. They became world travelers, visiting numerous different countries. They shared many interests, with the most important being golf. Curtis and Barbara have been longtime members of Stockdale Country Club, where Barbara was past president of the Ladies Golf Association. Curtis and Barbara were active in promoting the Senior Masters Golf Tournament in Palm Springs every year. Barbara was head cook at the Guild House for 32 years, a position she loved. Barbara is survived by her husband, Curtis; sister, Dorothy; children, Meredith and Vicki; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Danielle, Erika and Caroline; as well as great-grandchildren, Casey, Jacob, Chloe, Hannah, Chelsea, and Katie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Annie; sister, Evelyn; first husband, Ed; son, Jeffery and granddaughter, Kimberly. By her request, no services are planned as she wished to be cremated, with her ashes scattered over the Greenhorn Mountains, where she loved to spend time. Memorials can be sent to the Guild House, 1905 18th St., on her behalf. No visitation is scheduled.
