Myrtle Elizabeth Rountree
April 14, 1926 - February 17, 2005 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, at 11:00 a.m., in 
Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. On February 17, 2005, Myrtle went to 
be with our Lord after a lengthy illness.

Myrtle lived most of her life in Bakersfield and was a devoted wife, mother 
and grandmother. She led a Christ centered life and was a lifelong member of 
Olive Drive Church.

Myrtle retired from the Broadway Dept. Store after 17 years of service and 
later volunteered many hours to the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. 
Myrtles happiest times were spent with friends, family and reading her Bible. 
She was one of the sweetest easy going people you could ever meet. She could 
find the good in anyone. We are thankful for the many years we had with her 
and the inspiration she was to us. We know Myrtle is finally at home with our 
Lord. She is joining in Heaven her beloved husband, Bob Rountree of 54 years, 
as well as her parents, Clarence and Grace Purvis.

Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Sharon Sullivan, Debra Pennel and 
husband, Bill; brothers, Richard and Robert Purvis; five grandchildren, six 
great-grandchildren and her faithful pet, Sadie-Bird.

The family would like to thank the staff of CBCC for their devoted, loving 
care.

No visitation is scheduled.
