Eddy Services: Sat., Feb. 26th, 11 a.m. Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Stine Rd., Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m., for Robert N. 'Bob' Eddy, 89, who passed away February 18, 2005 in Bakersfield. Dr Greg Horn will officiate. Bob was born August 19, 1915 in San Bernardino and resided in Kern County for 84 years. He was a U.S. Navy Air Corp Veteran during W.W. II serving from 1941 1946. Bob formed Robert N. Eddy A/A Architect in 1949. He advanced to Fellowship, A/A National A/A at the Convention in Atlanta, GA in May of 1995 for his contribution to the advancement of the profession of architecture. Bob always stood out. He was known and respected for sincerity and business ethics, which engendered complete trust. Bob was a man of highest ideals and was always willing to walk the extra mile to get the job done. As Miller saw it, BE never took advantage of his friendship but took steps to give advantage to other guys. Bob was a man of impeccable character and exceptional talents. He undertook all of his endeavors with work ethics of the highest level. After any achievement or commendation he was always grateful and unchanged. He was always cordial and constantly looking for the next opportunity to help. Bob was greatly influenced by his maternal grandmother, a self taught voracious reader. In grammar school, Bob had two goals, to be an architect (he was the first in his family) and a professional golfer. He was a past president/co-founder of Navy League of the United States, Bakersfield Council; former director of Kern County Better Business Bureau; co-founder /director of Memorial Hospital Foundation; American Cancer Society General Chairman; Kern County Board of Trade Principal; received a Kern County Boy Scout Council, Commendation award; received a Bakersfield YMCA Commendation award; a member of Kiwanis International Legion of honor for 45 years of service; Memorial Hospital Foundation, Board of Directors; member of the Board of Directors; 1972 present Committeeman-Rating, Rules and Competitions, Handicap; 1986 1990 chairman for SCGA Jr. Golf; World Seniors Golf Association, Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, member since 1975; 1992-present, Member of the Executive Council and Tournament Committee; 1980 1994, Seniors Masters Golf Association, Vice President, Memebr Executive Committee; 1980 1990, Past President, member Board of Governors, California, Seniors, Senior Golf Association; 1980 1995, member of Trojan scramblers, Support Group for Golf Team, University of Southern California; co-founder of Architectural Guild Golf Tournament. Bob was an executive committee member, Bakersfield Open PGA Tournament; 1963, 1964 Executive Committee, Bakersfield, Open PGA Tournament; 1971 Chairman Bing Crosby Little Crosby Bakersfield, C.C.; 1990 1991 Committee, Ben Hogan Tour, PGA Tournament, Bakersfield, C.C.; 1992 Seven Oaks C.C. (Nike Tour); Bob was responsible for structural and architectural rehabilitation of over 100 structures damaged in earthquakes of 1952 1953; he was a member of Bakersfield City Hall in 1955; 1958 worked on the Administration Building of Kern High School District; worked on the Federal Building of Bakersfield; 1969 worked on Valley Plaza, Regional Shopping Center, Bakersfield; 1971 worked on the Continental Telephone Corporation, Corporate and Regional Headquarters of Bakersfield; 1973 California State College, Bakersfield, Master Plan and Initial Buildings in association with Gruen Associates; 1976 Vintage Faire, Regional Shopping Center, Modesto, California; 1978 Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, in association with CRS, Houston; 1981 Solano Mall Regional Shopping center, Fairfield, CA; 1985 1987, Memorial Hospital of Bakersfield in association with Langdon Wilson Mumper of Los Angeles; Bob was on the California State Building Standard Commission, appointed by the Governor in 1959, where he served two 4 year terms from 1959 1967. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William & Linda Eddy of New Port Beach; daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer & Tim McClintock of Bakersfield; and grandsons, Ryan, Kevin, Steven and John Eddy, Connor and Dylan McClintock.
