Jack Cooper July 21, 1922 - February 21, 2005 A.T. Jack Cooper passed away on February 21. He was born July 21, 1922 in Taft, CA. He graduated from Taft High School. He was a 50 year member of the Taft Masonic Lodge and recently received the Golden Veterans Award from the California Grand Masonic Lodge. Jack served in the Army during WWII. He spent his life being a loving husband for 62 years to his wife, Edith Stewart Cooper, as well as a devoted father and grandfather. He started his working career with Richfield Oil Co. in Taft, CA. He and his family spent 20 years in Alaska where he worked for Coastal Drilling and Parker Drilling Co. Upon their return to Kern County, Jack worked for Berry Holding Co. before retiring. He and Edith spent 18 years of retirement in Brookings, Oregon and then returned to Bakersfield. Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Edith; his son Wesley Ross Cooper; and daughter Gloria Jean Marston. He is survived by his son A.T. Chris Cooper and daughter-in-law Dianne with whom he lived in Stallion Springs, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Connie and husband Rick Cormier of Slidell, LA, Tim and wife Michele Cooper of Bakersfield, CA, Keely Cooper and fiancée Loren Williams of Arlington, TX, Marcy and husband Greig Chapman of Beamsville, Ontario, Canada, Tammy Marston of Harbor OR, Lloyd and wife Patsy Marston of Kenai, Alaksa, Teena and husband David Steele of Union, OR; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters Evelyn and husband Art Radar of Grants Pass, OR, Jeanne Cooper of Los Angeles, CA, and sister-in-law Betty OBrien of Taft, CA. As to Mr. Coopers wishes, there will be no services. The family would like to sincerely thank Optimal Hospice, especially Mary Vickery, R.N. and Yvonne Rypkema for their help and kindness.
