Inocencia spent her youth in the Philippines where she met and married her husband, Alejo Rabanal. In 1970 Mom and Dad emigrated to Delano, California with five of their children. Mom was an active member of the Filipino Catholic Association in Delano for many years and was dedicated to the Catholic Church. Mom also loved gardening and working outdoors. Mom had a big heart and always opened the doors of her home to friends and relatives who needed a place to stay. Mom dearly loved her children and grandchildren and was happiest when cooking for and spending time with them. If there was one thing that could sum up Moms character, it was her willingness to sacrifice and go the extra mile for the sake of her family. In 1994, after 49 years of marriage, Mom suffered a severe blow when Dad passed away. In 1997, Mom suffered an initial stroke which precipitated a number of health problems. As a result of her medical condition, Mom spent her last years living in the home of her daughter, Merlinda Rabanal Collier. Even up to her final days, Mom continued to express her love for family and continued her interest in gardening and cooking. Mom passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 19, 2005.
