He attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and East Bakersfield High from which he still maintained many friendships. Following his Navy service in the Pacific during WWII, Bob studied refrigeration. He worked many years for Coca-Cola. It seemed as though he knew every building in Kern County and many, many people. In his mid life Bob realized his dream of owning and operating a full-service food and beverage vending company. He was proud to watch his venture grow from one machine, one customer, to hundreds. Bob enjoyed meeting the needs of his customer. He was a highly respected member of NAMA. Bob sold Arrow Vending upon his retirement a few years ago. Our father loved camping, fishing, exploring, skiing, train rides, boating and Costcoing. Bob was a softy for animals and had many pets (mostly strays) during his long life. He worked very hard before his retirement and he often commented that he loved having the time to look up at the sky or mountains and enjoy the view. One of his favorite things to do in his retirement years was to go out to eat. He had his favorite spots but was eager to try the newest places. Bob had a lot of fun with his RV. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Ruth Paul. He is survived by his loving family: his children, Mark Hill of Wisconsin, Vickie Wood and Denise Hill, both of Bakersfield, his step-son Dewy Paul and his wife Lynda; his three grandchildren, Kim Cavanaugh and her family in Laguna Niguel, Brent Wood in Los Angeles, and Kai Paul in San Francisco; and his cherished pets Coco and Missy, as well as all of his wild cats. He will also be missed by his dear friend Mary Ann Peters. Bob leaves behind so many good friends and acquaintances and his children thank them for their support in his last few weeks.
