Helen Fries
Feb. 6, 1923 - Feb. 27, 2005

Helen Fries, 82, passed away February 27, 2005, in Bakersfield. She was born 
in Bakersfield on February 6, 1923. She was preceded in death by her three 
brothers, Arnold, Harold and Nelligan, her loving sister, Rosalie Dettra and 
also her son, Kenneth Fries. She is survived by her husband, Bernard Fries; 
brother, Glenn; daughter, Connie Shaver; sons, Tom and Lloyd Fries, daughter-
in-law, Natalie; grandchildren, Daniel, Brooke, Tyler, Angela, Jessica, 
Rebecca, Andrea, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. 

First and foremost Helen was a great wife and mother. She enjoyed her marriage 
to Barney for over 49 years. They shared many trips with the mobile nobles and 
they took great pride in cooking for various Masonic lodges. Helen was a 
worker. Her career spanned over thirty years working for Tinys Restaurant and 
later for Westchester Bowl. She had many devoted customers who enjoyed her 
sense of humor and friendship.

Her great joy was her children and grandchildren who she loved with all of her 
heart. All of our lives are better because we were blessed by this special 
lady.

Those of us that knew Helen well, know that Helen would not want you to mourn 
her passing, but celebrate her life!

At Helens request there will be no visitation or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for 
Children, Los Angeles Unit, 3100 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90007.
