They married in 1942 and moved to Bakersfield in 1949 where Dorothy continued raising a family and John became a very busy pediatrician. In her early years in Bakersfield she was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, active in PTA, AAUW and a founding member of Guild House. She played tennis at the Racquet Club and enjoyed bridge and ballroom dancing. Annual summer pack trips to the High Sierra became a family tradition. Dorothy was an avid outdoorswoman. She and John enjoyed flyfishing and birdwatching and traveled to every continent. They spent many summers flyfishing in Montana. She took care of John and was very active until her death. She is survived by John, her husband for 62 years; her 3 children, Kathleen, Kristen, Roger and wife, Christine; grandchildren, Erin and Erik; nephews, David Little and Dick Nicholson. She will be missed by all who loved her. Memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, 1660 S St., Saturday, 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at Guild House.
