Steve was born in Taft, California on November 28, 1951, and passed away at his home on March 1, 2005. He had lived most of his life in Taft. Steve was a devoted husband, son, grandson, brother and grandfather who loved being with his family. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War in the early seventies. He had various jobs in his lifetime, he had worked in the oilfields around Taft and was last employed at Darrell's Body Shop. He enjoyed working in his yard and around his home and especially loved going on trips to the coast and Millerton Lake. Steve had a heart of gold and was a caring and compassionate person. He will be deeply missed by his friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Houchin Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 11 years, Marsha, mother, Ann Houchin, grandparents, Roy and Hilda Houchin, sister, Sherry Scott and her husband Rick, Aunt and Uncle Jim and Lolly Nabors, nephews Damien Lopez, Austin Lopez and his wife, Keely and their children, Hailee, Dawson and Bradyn. Also, Jason and Janis Mobley and their children, Britney, Lonnie, S.J., Taari, and Kaijah, Denise Mobley, brother-in- law Stephen Jones, Darrell Dooley and Shirley Mobley Dooley. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
