Margaret was born in Visalia, CA on July 20, 1920 to William and Augusta Maude Pierce. Her love as a mother has guided us, her children, to live life to its fullest during tough times and to always do what you want, before its too late. As we were leaving home, she became an antique dealer who had a great passion for selling collectibles. This career had carried her through a wonderful and challenging time, as she shared her charismatic personality with those she met in her venture of life. Most recently, Margaret had attended the Adult Center Chateau d Bakersfield, where she met many new friends and shared a lifetime of advice and stories with them. She never knew a stranger, and always told all she met, Dont work too hard. She was a blossoming flower who loved life to the fullest, and will be greatly missed by her loving family who stood by her day and night during her struggle for life. As from Gods Open Door, Life is no straight and easy corridor along which we travel free and unhampered, but a maze of passages, through which we must seek our way. We will always miss her smile and quirky ways. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Irvin Smith, in 1970, her sister, Ella Walker, brothers, Otis Pierce and Billy Pierce. Survivors are sister, Ruthy and Ray Palmer, brother, Fred and Francis Pierce, her loving children and their spouses, Margaret Ann and Louie Moreno, Elizabeth and Harlan Ode, Richard Smith, Susan Lamar and Jimmy Smith, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Honoring her will be the following Pallbearers: Louie Moreno, Richard Smith, Harlan Ode, Jared Ode, Christian Lopez and Robert Grisedale. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Smith and Ignacio Savvedra. The family would like to thank the San Joaquin Valley Hospital MICU nurses and care partners who gave great care and attention to our mother. A special thank you goes to Dr. Vincent Ho and Dr. Sanjiv Sharma who provided the family and Margaret with wonderful personal care. The family is inviting all those who knew Margaret to feel free to also attend the visitation at Hillcrest Mortuary from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
