He was on his own by age 14 and grew up working cattle ranches in Texas and the Californian coast. He became and expert horseman and bull rider, as well as a good veterinarian, which the neighbors and friends would depend on. During the 1930s, he began his own ranch in the Chowchilla area. He gave up the ranch when he was drafted into WWII and served during the entire war with the Army Air Corp. When operating as tail gunner on submarine patrol, he survived the crash which took his plane & crew. At the wars end, he was employed by various cattle companies until the 1960s. When he moved to Montana, where he became engaged with family members in operating and developing the Hills Bros. Cattle Ranch. He maintained that position in the area he loved until his passing at age 94. He grew up during very hard times and managed to educate himself, and carry a charm and wit to entertain all who were present. He was there for any of us who needed help. He was truly the American Cowboy and we will always love him. Sincerely, The members & descendants of the Hill Family Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
