A meditation/evening visitation service is scheduled at Gods Covenant Church of God in Christ, 3101 Cottonwood Road, Bakersfield, CA, 93307, on Sunday, March 6, 2005, starting at 6:30 p.m., with his Homecoming Celebration being held Monday, March 7, 2005, at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ, 1028 O St., Bakersfield, CA, 93301, at 11 a.m. Elder Pastor Ted Jenkins, Sr. will be officiating. A generous and giving life came to a close on February 28, 2005, in Sacramento, CA. Hulen Wayne Lovelady was born in Milam County, near Milano, Texas, on November 16, 1951, to Anita Delores Young and Hulen Dean Lovelady, whom preceded him in death. He was the oldest of 11 children. Hulen re-dedicated his life to Christ on May 5, 1996, under the leadership of Elder Pastor Ted Jenkins, Sr. Hulen was an active member and Deacon of Gods Covenant Church of God in Christ. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Bupersman on the U.S.S. America. Hulen was Honorably Discharged from active duty on March 26, 1976. Hulen continued to serve his country as Navy reservist until March 28, 1980. Hulen moved to Oakland, CA, and lived with his uncle, where he met his wife, Lora Lovelady. Hulen and Lora shared 28 years of Married Life. Of this union, two children were joined, Nina La Toi Bolden- Lovelady and Karey Regina Lovelady. Hulen is survived by his Stepmother, Aleen Lovelady; his Mother, Anita West; his Wife, Lora Lovelady; Daughters, Nina Bolden-Lovelady and Karey Regina Lovelady; a Grandson, Darren Scott Roberson; Godchildren: Marcus Jenkins, Derrick Jenkins, Mario Jones, Jr., Mia Crofton, and Marquel Abraham; Brothers- in-law, Jonny Bolden, Herman Bolden, Van Bolden, Maj. William Bolden (USMC), Robert Broussard, and Jerry Mays; Sisters-in-law, Ruby Broussard, Ruth Bolden- Mays, Rena Bolden, and Vanessa King Bolden; his Nephews, Norman Franklin, Jr., SFC. Damon Elliot Bolden (USA), IC2 Terrence Michael Bolden (USN), Torrence Marcus Bolden, and Torrey Macron Bolden; Nieces, Vanessa Lovelady, Torria Bolden, Ciara Bolden, and Briana Bolden; along with a host of other nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, family, and friends. We will continually miss Hulens great generous nature and loving heart.
