She was born in Los Angeles on 2/18/28 from parents who immigrated from the United Kingdom and decided they were sick of the cold. They never left Los Angeles where Patricia was born and raised. Patricia married Bruce L. McNichols in 1949 and they made their first home on the Central Coast of California, where their three children were born. They moved to Bakersfield in the 1950s and raised their family there. Patricia was an elementary school teacher for the Bakersfield City School District. Many generations of Bakersfield children owe their reading ability and love of books to our mother. Patricia was a member of The Kern County Friendship Force and traveled with them extensively to many countries. Some of our mothers fondest memories were made hosting people from far away places and visiting them in return. Bruce and Pat retired to Oakhurst where they had a vacation home for many years. Mothers final days were spent looking out at the trees she loved. Patricia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce; her daughter Jamie and husband Robert Blair of Cambria and Oakhurst; daughter Gail and husband Dr. Rick Oliver of Paso Robles; granddaughter Jordan Lane of San Francisco; and son Alan and wife Gail of Stamford, Connecticut and their children Jessie Jane, Andrew Thomas and Samantha Augusta. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Oakhurst Medical Group, particularly Rebecca and Dr. McBride, for their kindness to our mother. We also want to thank Dr. Jawien of the California Cancer Center and nurses Cindy, Joan and Roxanne who helped us to see that nurses are not nurses, they are angels. We also wish to thank the fine cooks in Oakhurst who sent many casseroles and pots of soup to keep us going. There are no finer cooks anywhere. A memorial service for Patricia is scheduled for Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 P.M. at the Episcopal Conference Center Oakhurst (ECCO). Those who wish to make donations in Patricias name may direct them to Christ Church, Episcopal Church, 43140 Highway 41, Oakhurst, California 93644.
