Roland 10/8/1926 7/6/2004 Billy L. Roland was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Checotah, Oklahoma to Ralph and Lela Roland. He came to Calif. at 17 to work in the ship yards in Alameda. He served as a paratrooper in WWII, returning to Bakersfield in 1946. There he met his wife Inez. They were married 57 years and had 2 children. He is survived by his wife, Inez; his son Bruce and wife Angie; his daughter Pam; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Betty and her husband Marlin Ellerton, Virginia and her husband Bert Carlson, Rose Tackett; and many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the Church of Christ for 44 years. He loved his family, church family and the Lord above all else. Memorial services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Church of Christ, 241 Roberts Lane. Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
