Raymond Joseph Reilly III

Services: Sat., July 10, 11 a.m.

Funeral services for Raymond Joseph Reilly III will be held at 11 a.m., July 
10, at St. Francis Church, 900 H St. Visitation will be at Mission Funeral 
Home, 531 California Ave., on July 9, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The family will 
be receiving friends and family from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Ray died in an accident 
July 4, 2004. 

He was born September 1, 1958 to Raymond and Monica Reilly in Okarche, 
Oklahoma. Ray grew up in Fredrick, Maryland, where he graduated from Prospect 
Hall Catholic High School. Ray played every sport possible, from football to 
basketball, and graduated with honors.

Ray graduated from Arizona State University in Phoenix with a Bachelor of 
Science degree. He attended medical school. Later, Ray and his young family 
moved to Ventura, CA, where he sold pacemakers for Intermedics. In 1990, he 
was transferred to Bakersfield where he continued implanting and servicing 
pacemakers and defibrillators. Ray was well respected by cardiologists, 
patients and colleagues for his work.

Ray received his Eagle Scout award in 1975 and his Ad Altare Dei Medal. He was 
his son Joeys Tiger Club leader and would have been his Wolf master this fall. 
Ray helped Joey make his Pinewood Derby car, which crashed and was later 
repaired. He took his three children camping and taught them how to shoot guns 
and roller skate. His girls remember that he took them to Rollerama every 
Saturday morning for three years. Ray was a father who tried to help with 
homework and was usually successful at it. His girls, Catie and Megan, were 
Daddys girls who could wrap him around their little fingers.

Ray was an avid sportsman who traveled to Canada and Africa to hunt large 
game. He also was a history buff and pilot with a commercial rating who flew 
gliders and loved airplanes all his life.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Catie, Megan, and Joey; his 
father, Raymond; his sister, Susan Reilly; niece, Carissa Reilly-Weedon; his 
aunt, Betty Reilly; his cousins, Matt and Shannon Reilly, and extended family.

Interment will be at Resthaven in Frederick, Maryland where his mother and his 
brother, Peter are buried. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Raymond Reilly 
Memorial Fund, c/o St. Francis Catholic Church, San Joaquin Bank, 1301 17th 
St., Bakersfield, CA 93301.
