In the last years of his life he had Alzheimers Disease. His wife, Mary, was by his side giving him constant care and love all his days. He was a young man serving his country in the Navy from May 1943 to October 1945. Over the years he worked in the oilfields for various companies, mainly as a tool pusher. He retired from NL Acme in March, 1984. His retirement years were spent with his wife, Mary, traveling many states, hunting and fishing and taking trips to Stateline, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Harlis; mother and father; Bill and Lydia Gentry; sister, Cordia Lee; brothers, Cloid and Arvin Gentry. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 65 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Carol, Doug and Glena Gentry; daughters, Joyce Baker, Kathy Stymus and son-in-law, Bill. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Avalene and Joe Penney; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Gentry, Aunt Lellie Gentry of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Rozelle Klakulak of Michigan; sister-in-law, Janie Gentry and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is survived by 18 loving grandchildren, Russell, Perry, Arvin, Kenny, Dale, Jarrod, Bryce and Jon Gentry, Joy and Alan Baker, Carrie Morgan, Tracy Van Curen, Jeff and Mike Keeney, Scott Roberts, Lori Reed, Jeff and Brian Langston and their spouses. Survived by his 30 special great-grandchildren, Chad, Lauren and Lindsey, Brittany, Mikel, Stormy and Tempest, Bo, Blake and Bradley, Brandon and Mitchell, Jacob and Joelie and a new one on the way, Halle Gentry, Jonah, Justin and Jase Van Curen, Molly and Andrew Morgan, Ashlynn, Alissa, Hayley and Kaitlyn Roberts, Michelle Keeney, Riley Keeney Toms, Hayli Baker, Devon Pruett, Chad Reed, Tawni White. Services will be held at the Garden of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Chaplain Jim Williams will officiate. An informal gathering of family and friends is planned at the family home after the services. The family gives thanks to those special caregivers at Optimal Hospice.
