Day Sept. 17, 1926 - Mar. 9, 2005 Mildred Esther Hildegard Johnson Day was born in Evanston, Illinois on September 17, 1926 to Swedish immigrants Sven Warner Johnson and Hildur Eleanora Ohlson. She graduated from Evanston Township High School, and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Arthur Day. She followed him to California where he was stationed during WWII. Together they returned to California to raise their family in 1952 and remained in Bakersfield from that time until their deaths. Art and Milli raised their three children in Bakersfield, and all graduated from College with honors. Milli reentered the workforce in 1963 and was a stenographer-clerk with the Kern County Veterans Administration until her retirement. Besides her family, work and church, hobbies were a major part of her and Arts lives. She was an accomplished dog obedience trainer and exhibitor. She was a many time president of the Bakersfield Obedience Training Club. She and Art were very active in dog shows, and held various positions in the Kern County Kennel Club, and exhibited in dog shows across the west. She was also active in the Bakersfield African Violet Society, the Bakersfield Womens Press Club, and raised and showed cockatiels and showed parakeets. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Day; son, Randall Arthur Day; and sister, Svea Pestka. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Aroner of Paso Robles, CA; son and daughter- in-law, Lawrence and Kathy Day of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Alexander and Amy Day of Bakersfield, Laurilyn Langwell RN and Robert Langwell of Bakersfield, Dr. Amber Aroner Telford DVM and Bryan Telford of Salinas, and Joseph M. Aroner of San Luis Obispo; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Valley Christian Church, 1960 Ming Ave., Bakersfield. The family wishes to especially thank all of the staff of Rosewood, Hoffmann Hospice and Pastor Nancy McMasters of Valley Christian.
