Chester Ave. Minister David Garner and Elder Ellery Litterell will officiate. Other services and interment will take place at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home, Hwy. 8 So. of Sunset St., New Boston, Texas on Friday, July 16, at 3:00 p.m., with interment following at Magnolia, Cemetery, New Boston, Texas. Woodrow (WW) Wilson Burns was born on September 14, 1915, in New Boston, Texas and passed away on July 10, 2004, in Bakersfield, California. Woodrow and his family moved from New Boston, TX to Shafter, CA in 1956. He worked for K Malofy & Son until his retirement. In March of 1997, he and his wife, Eunice moved to Bakersfield, CA. As a young man, Woodrow enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid gardener, and his gardens usually resembled small farms. He often modified tools to make them more useful. Woodrow had an engaging sense of humor and an impeccable work ethic. He was truly a man of integrity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Woodrow was a member of the Oildale Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eunice Burns; his son, Woodrow Leonard Burns of McKittrick, CA, his wife, Doris, their daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Steve Ratzlaff of Bakersfield and Leann and Mark Keeley of Wasco, CA; son, Marvin W. Burns of Bakersfield, his wife, Jeanie, their son, Kevin W. Burns, daughter and son-in-law, Shel Thomas-Morton and Kevin Morton; great- grandchildren, Dayna Ratzlaff, Jeremiah Keeley, Elijah Keeley and Kennedy Thomas; brothers, Homer Burns, Henry Burns and Dow Burns; sisters, Mary Bostian, Ree Brown, Dorothy Smith, and Rosie Shirley and numerous nieces and nephews.
