He attended school in Chico and Oroville. Ray joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was stationed in the Philippines. On November 19, 1948, Ray married Lois Drane in Chico, CA. He graduated from Golden State College of Commerce and went to work for Guarankill Pest Control as Office Manager. In 1956 Ray was hired by the California Water Service. He was transferred to Bakersfield in 1965 where he worked as field superintendent and then Assistant Manager until he retired in 1986. Ray and Lois were members of Calvary Bible Church and enjoyed participating in the church Motorcycle group and the Towers and Goers RV Group. For the last nine years they lived in Ixtapa, Mexico and just recently returned to Bakersfield. In Ixtapa, Ray was instrumental in starting the only English speaking church in the area. Ray is survived by Lois, his wife of 55 years; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Gabriella Johnson; son-in-law and daughter, Theodore and Rhonda Arbolante; and grandchildren, Angelina, Jael and Teodoro III. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at 11:00 at Calvary Bible Church. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
