On Saturday, July 17, 2004, in her 79th year, Tivi found peace and reunited with her beloved husband, the late Eloy Castañeda and son, David Castañeda. Navividad Tivi Castañeda was born in Bakersfield, California on March 31, 1925, where she resided her entire life. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Justina Arias and brothers, Paul Arias and Ladi Arias. Mom is survived by her children, Reuben (wife, Sarah), Alfred (wife, Irene), Linda (husband, Leandro Portillo), Albert, and Susie (husband, Mike Gonzales); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her surviving sisters, Petra Hernandez and Mary Zapiain; brothers, Fred Arias and Ralph Arias; and several nieces and nephews. Known as a loving and kind soul, Tivi was devoted to her family. Mom enjoyed spending her time with family and being outdoors. As a dedicated employee, she retired from the Bakersfield City School District with 35 years of service. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 25 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Rosary services will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m., at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon Street. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held Monday, July 26, at San Clemente Mission, 1305 Water Street with Msgr. Ralph Belluomini officiating. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, followed by a reception at San Clemente Hall. Pallbearers are Reuben Castañeda, Linda Portillo, Albert Castañeda,, Susie Gonzales, Monica Petty and Ralph Arias. Honorary pallbearers are Leandro Portillo and Mike Gonzales. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our family and friends for the visits, prayers, offered masses and the support and care for our mother.
