Ben fell asleep in death on July 24, 2004 in Bakersfield, California. Ben is 
survived by four stepchildren, Quitha Ramil, Ronnie Westmoreland, Leonard 
Westmoreland Jr. and Linda Ford; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-
grandchildren; four great-great-grand-children; a sister, Donna Steers; 
nephews, Jerry Jr. and Richard Steer of Bakersfield; aunts, Nola and Norma; 
uncles Gean and Ray. 

Ben was one of Jehovahs Witnesses and a Ministerial Servant in the Panama 
congregation. He had a stroke that put him out of commission in July of 2002, 
until then he enjoyed going to the Kingdom Hall and rarely missed a meeting. 
After he was placed in the convalescent hospital he would read his Bible and 
the Watchtower as long as his one good eye would permit and he never missed a 
chance to witness to anyone who showed interest in Jehovahs Word.

Ben was raised in the Bakersfield area. He did various things throughout his 
life. He worked as a truck driver and a cook. He was a very good cook, one of 
his specialties being Spaghetti. He and his wife, Fleeda, loved to have guests 
over for dinner or just to visit. You always felt welcome in their home. Ben 
is going to be missed very much, especially by Quitha and Melinda.

A memorial service will be performed by Bro. Eddie Rackley, at the Panama 
congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 8501 Wible Rd. Hall A, 
Bakersfield, CA, Saturday, July 31, 2004, 2:00 p.m.
