The funeral ceremony will be held Friday, July 30, 10:00 a.m., at Come As You Are Outreach Ministries, 218 Bernard Street. Pastor Carol English of Free Will Church of God In Christ is officiating with interment to follow with a veterans ceremony to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Clifford Hillie Bynum was born in San Diego, CA on July 2, 1953 to Clifford Bynum Sr. and Hazel Gillem. He moved from San Diego, CA to Bakersfield as a young child and there he was raised by his grand-mother, Betsy Goodmorning. He attended Bakersfield city schools and received his general education certificate from the Armed Forces. He met and married Sharon Faye Beavers and together they had two children. He was a longtime employee of Schlumberger Oil Well Services. He was a hard worker and a loving and devoted husband and father. That union ended in 1980. He then met Janie Broussard and together they had two children. He continued to be a hard working and loving father. Clifford was an employee of Fleet Services and Ace Hydraulics as a hydraulic technician. Clifford enjoyed playing chess and keeping a smile on the faces of anyone who he came in contact with. He spent the best of his days with his good friend/brother, Herb Love and Momma Ellen O. Austin planting flowers and watching western movies. He liked R&B music and most recently became fond of Louie Armstrongs son, Its a Wonder World. Clifford was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Gillem; his father, Clifford Bynum Sr.; two brothers, Donald Kirkland, Bruce Worthy; nephew, Donald E. Gillem-Kirkland; and grandmother, Betsy Goodmorning. Clifford leaves to cherish his loving memory his children: Clifford Bynum III and daughter-in- law, Keisha Miller-Bynum, Coteia Latrice Clark, Jermaine Bynum, Tyson Bymun AND Denisha Moore; six grandchildren, Clifford Bynum IV, Curtis Anthony Clark Jr., Christopher Bynum, Courtesy Yhai Clark, Janessa Bynum and Kierre Luat; nieces and nephews, Zamia Perry, Xenia King, Aleithia Carter, Xonald and Ronald Gillem-Kirkland, Luvell, Johnny, Regshange and Shannon; a host of family and friends. Mom, Ms. Ellen O. Austin, you are an angel in disguise and such an amazing woman. We can never thank you enough for all of the things that you have done for our father and us. Thank you so much for all of the support you gave our father. He was very proud to call you Momma. We are sure he is still looking down and smiling at you.
