Susie Ramirez Rodriguez, age 87, passed away on July 24, 2004, in Bakersfield. 

A longtime resident of Caliente, Susie was born in Bakersfield on February 10, 
1917. She suffered from diabetes for many years and left Caliente only when 
her health declined to the point where she required constant medical 
attention. Susie passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her three 
sons on July 24th.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Manuel 
Diosado Rodriguez; her daughter, Nadine Rodriguez; her sons, Frank Rodriguez, 
Gerard Rodriguez, and Manuel Rodriguez, Jr.; her grandchildren, Christine 
Sanders (Gary Sanders), John Simmons, Karly Battles (Troy Battles), Franz 
Ebert, Maya Irving (Eric Irving), Erika Ebert Nelson (Matthew Nelson), and 
Crystal Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Lacedon Battles, Ariel Kelly, Nicholas 
Sanders, Austin Battles, Josef Ebert, Travis Battles, Benjamin Nelson, Evie 
Simmons, Thomas Nelson, Lucia Irving, and Frankie Cope; brother, Carl Ramirez; 
sisters, Carmen Saldana, Teresa Ortiz and Marlene Valdez.

Visitation on Wednesday, July 28, from 2-8 p.m., with the Rosary being recited 
at 7:00 p.m., at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, Bakersfield. Funeral Mass 
Thursday at 9 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In lieu of 
flowers, donations may be made in Susies name to the American Diabetes 
Association.
