He was surrounded by the family that he loved so much and fought so hard to be with. Raymond was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 2, 1955. His family moved to Bakersfield in the summer of 1966. He attended Washington Jr. High and graduated from East Bakersfield High in 1973. He joined the Army and served his country until 1976, and was extremely proud to be a veteran. His father proclaimed him the Mayor of Kentucky Street when he owned Bakersfield Auto Air from 1980 to 1995. He started his career as a Correctional Officer at Wasco State Prison in January of 1993. Anyone whos ever been blessed with Raymonds presence knows of his Raymondisms and never ending jokes. His sense of humor knew no bounds and could transcend all racial and language barriers. Always a people person, there was never a dull moment with Raymond. He loved to go camping, anywhere. Cooking was one of his passions, along with improving cars and his Harley with his son. Raymond always went all out for Halloween, it eventually rubbed off on family and friends. He could MacGuyver anything to make it work. He was so proud of his new home, with its park like backyard. He loved to sit on the patio sofa with pets Cha Cha and Stella and soak up the beautiful view. He was the other half of the creative team that made the house their home. Raymond is survived by his wife and true love, Teresa; his daughter, Jaclyn Rae; son, Raymond Nicholas and his son at heart, Ande Chagoya, all his pride and joy. He also leaves behind sisters, Betty and Amando Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Texas, SueAnn and Felix Medina, Sylvia and Isidoro Terrazas, and Jayna Fisher of Bakersfield. His brother, Frank Robert and Debbie of Adel, Georgia; as well as brother, Anthony Rodriguez of Bakersfield are also left to cherish his memory. He was not only a father to his kids but godfather to Marina Ortega, Jenny Ortiz, Eric Rivera, Robert Lopez, Stephen Mojica, Domenique Rivera and Sabrina Rodriguez. Raymond was loved immensely by his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Margaret Rivera, and all his sisters and brothers-in-law, his numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. There are so many lives that he has touched, too many to list, and not enough numbers in existence. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at KMC, the nursing staff in the ICU, the trauma team for all their hard work. Special thanks to Dr. Irene Spinello, and Curt Cabral R.N., for their phenomenal compassion. We would especially like to thank the staff at Wasco State Prison and Chevron Texaco for all their support and prayers. Nick Rodriguez, Ande Chagoya, Mando Bonilla, Stephen Torres, Dave Lopez and John Ortiz will lay him to rest. Dave Green, Lino Gonzalez, Robert Lopez, and Stephen Mojica will be Honorary casketbearers. Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain. - Dave Matthews Greenlawn Mortuary Funeral Directors Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
