Augustina was preceded in death by her husband, Mateo Yanez; son-in-law, Bernardo Guillen; and grandson, David Guillen, Sr.; and she is survived by her daughter, Consuelo Connie Guillen; son, Jorge Torres; and her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Agustina B. Yanez was born May 5, 1910 in Durango, Mexico. As a young child, she migrated to California and made Kern County her home. She was a devoted wife to Mateo Yanez, and she was a dedicated mother to her children, Connie Yanez and Jorge Torres. Her whole life consisted of hard work. Agustinas occupations ranged from being a Lumber Jack cook to a farm laborer. There was nothing that she couldnt do. After her husbands passing, Agustinas self- sufficient determination was brought up to a new level. By then, her lineage went as far as great-grandchildren. Although her children and grandchildren were all grown up, she still loved her great-grandchildren the same. Agustina did things her own way. Having lived through the Depression, WWI and WWII, her mind set and character was tough. She was feisty, smart and independent. She took no bull from anybody. Her John Wayne character was expressed to her family and friends, and everyone knew not to upset or disappoint her. Agustina was bold and confident. She never had a doubt when she made a decision. This 49 woman walked as tall as Paul Bunyon, and conveyed brilliance and class. There is no second guessing that she loved her family. Agustina loved her family more than anything in the world. Her heart was always open, and there is nothing that she wouldnt do for them. Agustina B. Yanez would be proud and honored to know that 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 19 great- great-grandchildren are a product of her courageous will for being a loving mother.
