Julia was born in Poso Flats, California on February 16, 1906. She was the fourth of nine children born to Bautista and Frances Albitre. She passed away on April 21, 2005 in Bakersfield, California with her family by her side. Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gomez; sons, Steve Gomez, Charles Gomez Jr., Steven Gomez; daughter, Marie De La Pena; parents, Bautista and Frances Albitre; sisters, Isidra Sarrett, Lutie Avilez, Katie Chavaria, Mary Albitre; brothers, Remick Albitre, Dutch Albitre and Bautista Albitre Jr. and grandchildren, Danny Gomez, Christina Gonzalez, Julie Portillo and Michael Gomez. Julia is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Nell Albitre; daughter, Rita Solis; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Edward Marmolejo; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Tony Perez; daughter and son- in-law, Gloria and Alfonso Gonzalez; son, John Gomez; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Olga Gomez; son and daughter-in- law, Richard and Amy Gomez; 33 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Our mom has finally joined our Dad whom she missed very much after being married for 57 years. Julia was a pioneer of Kern County. She loved to work in her garden but she always took time to care for some of her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring Mom and Grandma. Some of her favorite things were the color purple, ribs, corn on the cob and lemon drops. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
