John Gonzales
June 24, 1924 – July 8, 2005

John Gonzales passed away on July 8, 2005 in Coquille, Ore. John was born in 
Belvedere to Antonio and Angela Murio Gonzales on June 24, 1924. 

John served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, the U.S. 
Air Force and the U.S. Naval Reserve as a “SeaBee” for 30 years from which he 
retired at the rank of chief. John was also a retired employee of the Los 
Angeles Department of Water & Power.  

John leaves behind sisters Teresa and Antonia Gonzales of Los Angeles and 
surviving children Kathy Mahler of Willows, Alaska, Imogene McDonald of 
Wichita, Kan., Carmen Wright of Yucaipa, and Jerry Gonzales of Tehachapi. He 
also leaves behind several grand children and great-grandchildren.   

A mass will be held in his honor on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Malachy 
Catholic Church followed by a small military service at noon at a private 
residence. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a 
veteran’s service organization such as the VFW, Associated Veterans or 
Disabled Veterans of America.
