On July 16, 2003, my two beautiful daughters were coming to Oklahoma to visit their Dad and I. The girls left Taft on July 15, 2003 with six of my eight grandchildren in the car. It was such a happy time for all of us. We were all so happy and had a great vacation planned. Ragina was going to make a CD while she was there, Renée and I were going to cheer her on. We had planned to go to Branson, Missouri. So many things to look forward to, I called the girls about four or five times on the 16th to ask what kind of food they wanted when they got to moms house. The last time I talked to them was at 6:45 p.m. I was on my way to church, I told the girls I would call after church, it was 8:45 p.m. I called Raginas cell and a man answered and told me the people I was trying to reach had been in an accident. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why, but if tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, Id walk right up to Heaven and bring you all three back home again. On that fateful day I lost my only Two children and my beautiful 16 year old granddaughter. All the others were in the hospital, one on life support, she was 5 years old. Cooper Tire has a commercial that says Cooper tires dont give up a thing, well I have news for Cooper Tire, we gave up everything. Girls we miss you so much and will never get over the loss of you but we will be together again in Heaven. Cooper Tire and a Ford Excursion stole our family that day, think twice before putting your family in harms way. Thelma Wehunt Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 6/12/2005.
