He was born at North Windham Hospital in Connecticut, on July 8, 1949. He leaves his caring niece, Paula Marie Twichell and her 3 children: James Paul, Sean Thomas, and Kate Peters. Those that knew Marshall would know just how much he cared for his Samoyed, Buster. Buster will live the rest of his days with his dog cousins in Nevada. He surely does miss his Daddy. Marshall was a valued member of the Bakersfield Chapter of the Friends of the National Rifle Association. He was also an active member of Kern Shooting Sports and as a NRA certified instructor. His help was instrumental in developing the Kern County Junior Rifle and Shotgun programs. Marshall served in the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the Quartermaster Corps. He was proud to have served his country as a Vietnam Veteran and received awards and ribbons in recognition of his accomplishments. Later, he continued to serve his country with a successful career in Federal Law Enforcement. His coworkers appreciated his dedication, candor and humor. He is survived by a sister, Nancy Lou Guite and a brother, Paul E. Granberg. A memorial service will be held August 20, 2005, 10:00 a.m., Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MJG Second Amendment Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Kern Shooting Sports, P.O. Box 161, Bakersfield, CA 93302.
