A competitive athlete, Bill played football for Sequim High School. His coach, Bill Schade, declared him the best all around athlete I have ever coached. While attending the University of Washington, Bill played fullback for the Washington Huskies. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1954 where he was introduced to what would become his life-long passion... radio broadcasting. His first major gig was entertaining the troops in Korea as a disc jockey on the Honshu Hayride for Armed Forces Radio, Tokyo, Japan. Music was an integral part of Bill's life, highlighted with years of playing bass guitar and singing. Shortly after marrying Marilyn Moon Gallon, the couple moved to Hanford, California, and from 1967-1973 Bronco Bill Hamilton hosted the morning drive at radio station KNGS in Hanford entertaining his country music fans. In 1978, Bill and Marilyn moved to Lake Tahoe - then back to Bakersfield in 1986. It wasn't long before BB Hamilton was spinning records again at radio stations KUZZ and then KBID. An avid tennis player, Bill and his dear friend, John Gilfillan beat the best to become Senior Champs at Rio Bravo Tennis Club. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Redding and stepson, Gary Gallon. A loving husband and father, Bill leaves his wife of 40 years, Marilyn, daughter Toni Hamilton Gordon of Everett, Washington, stepson Jack Gallon of Bakersfield and stepdaughter Becky Gallon Kunin of Westlake Village, California. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bakersfield Racquet Club, Saturday, October 22, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity.
