Ruth was born in Denver, Colorado on June 22, 1919. She graduated from West High School in 1937. She married Harley Hansen on September 25, 1939. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harley C. Hansen. She is survived by her son, Christian Hansen of Anaheim Hills; daughters and sons-in-law, Laurel and Robert Brann of Bakersfield, Renee and Herb Jenkins of Bakersfield and Anna and Stan Mayra of Anchorage, Alaska; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great- grandchildren. Ruth started out her California adventure by moving from Colorado with her husband, Harley and their baby daughter, Laurel. Harley established a successful machine shop, which Ruth supported by performing the bookkeeping tasks and running errands all over Southern California. Ruth lived with a twinkle in her eye and was on the lookout for the next adventure. She delighted in nature, gardening and travel. Learning to ride horses in her fifties, she had many memorable campouts with her friends from the Fullerton Recreational Riders. She loved music and played the piano in her early years, but even of late she charmed an audience with lively tunes on her harmonica. Spending time with family, visits to Alaska, swimming and water aerobics were some of her favorite activities. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought joy to her life. Ruth had a quiet, enduring faith in God and she cherished the worship services at her church. Despite her health challenges, she lived the final years of her life with tremendous grace and gratitude. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be deeply missed. For additional service or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care, 873-8200.
