JD Hardy was born the youngest of eleven children October 2, 1931, in Cardwell, Missouri to John and Diva Hardy. He went to be with the Lord November 22, 2005. JD lived in Missouri until he joined the U.S. Army in 1947. JD married the love of his life Wanda Lou Malone March 16, 1949. JD was sent into the Korean War where he was wounded and spent the remainder of his service recuperating in Tokyo, Japan. JD wrote the book Birth on The Battlefield: in 1967 recounting his near death experience that changed his life forever. JD returned from the service in 1950 and settled in Fresno, California. JD and Wanda Lou had three sons and a daughter. They moved to southern California in 1954 where they remained until relocating to Bakersfield in 1972. JD studied theology at Southern Bible College in Costa Mesa, California and entered the ministry in 1957. They pastored the Pentecostal Church of God in Norwalk, California from 1960 to 1969 when they went on the evangelistic field. JD and Wanda Lou became well known evangelists around the country; JD preaching the gospel and Wanda Lou singing. JD and Wanda Lou hosted the television show Gospel Country based in Bakersfield from 1973 until 1976. JD also hosted the television show The Christian Forum from 1990 until 1996. JD and Wanda Lou remained on the evangelistic field until 1986 when they became the pastors of the Sunshine Full Gospel Church in Oildale, California where they remained until their retirement in 2002. While on the evangelistic field they were in demand for revivals, campmeetings and seminars. JD was known as a man of God that preached inspiring messages of faith. His illustrated sermons were a treat for everyone that experienced them. JD had the ability to inspire and motivate people for the Lord. JD spent his entire ministry building the Kingdom of the God. JD hardy was a mentor for many men and women that became ministers around the country. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, son, John David Hardy, wife and companion of 54 years Wanda Lou Hardy. He is survived by brother LB Hardy of Arkansas; sisters, Helen and Katherine of Texas; sons and their wives, Jack and Sheila Hardy of Grover Beach, Len and Aleta Hardy of Taft; daughter and her husband, Susan and Dwight Young of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Jason and Jacque Hardy of Grover Beach, Jennifer and Paul Leininger of Arroyo Grande, Lee Hardy, Crystal Hardy and Ryan Hardy of Taft and 6 great-grandchildren as well as many many nieces and nephews that dearly loved Uncle JD. Viewing will be Monday, November 28th, from 4;00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Kern River Family Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave., in Oildale. Memorial service will be Tuesday, November 29th, at 10:00 a.m., at New Life Center, 4201 Stine Road, in Bakersfield. The service will be officiated by Rev. James Carmen, Bishop, Arizona District for the Pentecostal Church of God. The Hardy family would like to extend our thanks to everyone that has contact us during this time. Your expressions of love towards our parents is more comforting than you will ever know. JD Hardy leaves a legacy to his family and parishioners to continue to build the Kingdom of God.
