Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday, October 26th and 27th, in the Mission Family Mortuary. Violet was born in Bakersfield, on May 29, 1927 to the late Charles and Mathilda Hashim. Violet passed away Friday, October 21, 2005, in her home, to be with the Lord she served. She is survived by her sister, Rose Sarquis of Modesto and sister-in-law, Leona Hashim of Bakersfield. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Hannah Hashim who lived in San Francisco, Jeanette Chapman of Madison, Conn.; and brother, Ernest Hashim of Bakersfield. She was blessed with having fifteen wonderful nieces and nephews. Violet had a lifelong devotion to St. Josephs Catholic Church and was employed as a wedding coordinator and clerk. She served as a volunteer in a number of organizations within the church. In 1945 through 1947 she entered the Convent of the Good Shepherd in Los Angeles. Violet served in retreats for women of the Central Valley. She took great pride in being a top ticket seller for St. Josephs Church events. She was a Eucharistic Minister that served many hospitals and home-bound parishioners. She was a lay person who dedicated her life to the support of her church and family. Pallbearers will be Charles Hashim II, Ronnie Hashim, Scott Hashim, Mark Hashim, Paul Hashim, Ernest Hashim II, Michael Hashim, Jeff Chapman and Jon Sarquis. In lieu of flowers, Violet requested that donations be made to Skilled Nursing Dept. at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital or a charitable organization of the donors choice.
