Lewis Hawthorne 
July 22, 1918 - January 30, 2006 

Lewis Hawthorne, 87, a retired Bakersfield, California businessman, passed 
away on January 30th, as the result of a stroke suffered in January of 2005. 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lee Hawthorne; daughters, Sharon 
McMahon of Bakersfield, Marilyn Douglass of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Teri 
and Jim Ward of Bakersfield, Ada and Mark Shuman of Montecito, CA, Sara 
Coleman of W. Los Angeles, and Thomas Coleman of Santa Barbara; great-
grandson, Jared Plank of Bakersfield; and sister, Doshie Ferris of Wichita, 
Kansas. Mr. Hawthorne was an avid sports fan and fisherman and devoted 
husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who truly enjoyed his 
family. Pending services will be private. Remembrances may be made to the 
American Heart Association.
