"Sally" 1941 - 2005 Sarah R. Hernandez (Sally) April 8, 1941 - Dec. 15, 2005 December 15th 2005, Sarah Hernandez lost her battle with cancer. Not once letting it get the best of her. She was known for her strength, courage, and most of all her smile. Her head held high which held this family together during this trying time. Always assuring us everything was going to be alright. Prieta, Gramma, and Lil Papa were just a few names she went by. She was born in Wasco, April 8, 1941. She is survived by her husband Raul Hernandez, Sr. of 47 years. Also by her seven children and spouses; Raul Jr.& Raqui, Richard & Fidelia, Ernest & Evelyn, Jaime & Cathy, Vivian Hernandez, Lisa & Mark Rodriguez, and Lydia & Jack Trobaugh. Her 14 grandchildren; Jessica, Albert, Ricky, Kristofer, Jacinda, Marcos, Matthew, Amanda, Jack ll, Vincent, Taylor, Trinity, Sarrah, and Caleb. One great grandchild; Abigail. Including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and godchildren. Mom was an active member in Sociedad Edad de Oro # 12 and Sociedad Juarez M.M. She enjoyed the club meetings, potlucks, dances, but especially her turn-around trips with her companera Rosa. Not only was she a former queen in her club, shell always be our queen. She also enjoyed all the family functions we had. Including barbeques and birthdays held at her home. But especially the years we got together and rented a hall for Thanksgiving, which brought the entire family together. Memories that we will treasure forever. She will be missed by all family and friends, but especially her husband Raul. His Prieta will never be forgotten. Our special thanks to Dr. Tu, all the nurses and staff at CBCC, the nurses and care partners at San Joaquin Hospital. We appreciated all your help. Viewing will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2005 from 4:00-6:00pm. Rosary at 6:00pm in the chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary on 9101 Kern Canyon Rd.. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on 601 E. California Ave at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Pallbearers are Raul Jr., Richard, Ernest, and Jaime. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack, Mark, Albert, Ricky, Kris, Marcos, and Matt. We will think of her often, remembering all the good times we shared and how much she loved us all. Although we will miss her at this Christmas time and mourn that she is gone. It will bring us peace in knowing that in every one of us, she lives on forever. May you rest in the arms of the Lord. Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id like to leave an afterglow of smiles when the day is done. Id like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun. Id like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways, of happy times, and laughing times and bright and sunny days. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 12/18/2005.
