She was born in Roswell, New Mexico on April 3, 1934 to Lewis and Ruth Hickson. The Hickson family moved to Bakersfield in 1943. Mary attended Bakersfield High School. She married Delton R. Harvey, they had 3 children together. The last 40 years of her life she was married to Edward Chancellor. A man that loved her and cherished her completely. Mary and Edward were friends, buddies and partners. Mary worked in the medical field for nearly 30 years for Dr. Charles Holeman. She retired in 1991. She loved to read, golf and watch all sports on television. Mary loved family outings, reunions, and Christmas Eve with her family. Her husband Edward Chancellor of Bakersfield and 5 children and their spouses survive Mary. Sons, Gregory R. Harvey, Jeffery and wife, Deanna Harvey all of Bakersfield; three daughters, Debra (Harvey) and husband, Randall Manevel of Yuma, AR., Tammie (Chancellor) Weaver, Edie (Chancellor) and husband, Roy Brookes; mother, Ruth Alline Savage, all of Bakersfield; brother, Ron and wife, Pat Savage of Desert Hot Springs, CA; sisters, Donna and husband, Jim Simpson of Bakersfield, Shirley and husband, Richard Walker of Keller, TX., Marion and husband, Darwin Roberston of Fresno, CA. Mary and Edward have 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her father, Lewis Hickson; stepfather, Mertz Savage; her loving brother, Jimmie L. Hickson and sister, Shirley (Fruppie) Hickson. Mary and family are very grateful for the prayers, cards and compassion that family members and friends have shown these past four weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to the Hospice Foundation. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4th, from 4:00 8:00 p.m., at Mish Funeral Home.
