They purchased a small farm just outside of Shafter. Marie worked and retired from Shafter High School as a Pastry Cook. She was well known for making Flying Saucer Cookies. Marie, accompanied with her husband, Perry, was the Buttonwillow Dealers for the Bakersfield Californian for many years. Marie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed. Marie died peacefully with her family by her side and died of natural causes. Marie Hill was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her husband, Perry Hill; son, Perry Hill Jr.; and daughter, Janet Aguilar. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ice of Bakersfield and son, William Roy Hill of Spokane, WA; 9 grandchildren, Karen Spencer, Lisa Johnson, Tammy Mendez, Dee Ann Spencer, Charlene Crabtree, William Hill, John Spencer Jr., Michael Hill and Jamie Hill; 21 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. We would like to give special thanks to Valley Convalescent Hospital for taking such good care of her and to Optimal Hospice and Odyssey Hospice for their services to Marie and the family. Funeral service will be Friday, September 30, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Olive Drive Church, 6500 Victor Street, Bakersfield, CA 93308. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Popovich.
