Mildred Higdon-Whitford 
Services: Tues., Nov. 8, 10:00 a.m. 

Mildred Higdon-Whitford, 91, of Grover Beach passed away Thursday, November 3, 
2005. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, at 
the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Mildred was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Rupert, Idaho. 
A graduate of Bakersfield High School, she lived in Bakersfield until moving 
to Grover Beach in 1972. Mildred was a former active member of the P.T.A. in 
Bakersfield and was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in both 
Bakersfield and Arroyo Grande. She was also a member of the Jobs Daughters in 
Bakersfield. Mildred served with the Arroyo Grande Hospital Auxiliary for many 
years and was a member of Grace Bible Church in Arroyo Grande. After moving to 
the coast, she became an avid golfer at the Black Lake and Pismo Beach golf 
courses. Mildred is survived by her husband, Walter Whitford; children, Bill 
Higdon and Martha Tidwell; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 
brothers, Urcel and Denny Holloway. She was preceded in death by her first 
husband, Reese Higdon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 
the Reese and Mildred Higdon Scholarship Fund at Appalachian Mtn. Regional 
Campus Council, Attn: Mina H. Floyd, P.O. Box 275 Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
