A luncheon will follow at 11:00 a.m., at Hodels Restaurant, 5917 Knudsen and Olive Drive. Our beautiful, dear mother, Jeanne, 81, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 20, 2005. She joins her parents, Fred and Ovillah Hort and other loved relatives, plus beloved pets she has cared for over many years. Mom always said, whoever you love on earth, will greet you in Heaven. Her tenderness for others, children and animals especially, was expressed throughout her life. Our tribute to her is to love, forgive and help others. With God so near to us, Mom must be near us, too. Sorrow cannot dim the brightness of her full and gracious life! Jeanne was born in Bakersfield and attended Horace Mann Elementary School, Washington Junior High School and East High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Teaching Credential from San Jose State College, where she met and married our father, Lowell Kamrar. Although Mom and Dad divorced years ago, she remained friends with Dad and our stepmother, Jo. This allowed for many harmonious family gatherings, for which we are grateful. Mom taught at Pioneer Drive and Voorhies Elementary Schools for a total of twenty-five years, including the substituting she did until the age of 77. She was passionate about helping others, as was seen in her years of work with P.T.A. and Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, serving on the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Board, and taking off years of work to care for family members. Mom loved her dear friends at Second Church of Christ, Scientist. Our friends, the Slawsons and the Rodriguezs and family members have shown such compassion for her and all of us over the years! Jeanne is survived by her son, Russell Kamrar; and daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Mike Heiser, and their dogs, Missy and Niki, whom she loved. She also leaves behind her dear brother and sister-in- law, Marv and Natalie Hort; and niece and husband, Barbara Hort and Mark Girard. Someday we will all greet each other again in Heaven! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to second Church of Christ, Scientist, the National alliance for the Mentally Ill Kern County Chapter, the S.P.C.A., or an organization of your choice. We are so grateful for the wonderful support and love Mom received from the staff at Beverly Manor Healthcare, Dr. Chang and her longtime physician, Dr. M.C. Barnard.
