Inez Helen Houchin Dodds 
June 29, 1917 - October 12, 2005 

Helen was born June 29, 1917 in Le Sage, West Virginia and was raised in 
Huntington, West Virginia. She married Clifford Dodds in 1936. She and 
Clifford moved to Buttonwillow in 1950 where Clifford went to work with 
Houchin Brothers Farming. In 50 years of marriage they raised two daughters 
before Clifford passed away in 1986. Helen is preceded in death by her 
husband, Clifford; brothers, Francis Houchin, C.A. Dutch Houchin, O.W. Jr. 
Houchin; and sister, Julia Lentz. She is survived by her daughters, Betty 
Walters and Mary Hudek and their husbands; sisters, Norma Turman and Patty 
Christiansen; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many 
nephews and nieces that loved her very much. Helen was a loving, caring and 
giving person. She was truly the Matriarch of our family. Her strength and 
toughness, her warrior spirit, inspired us all. Her smile and giggle would 
light our days. Her berry pies were the best in the world. She was Mom, 
Sister, Grandma, Aunt. Most of all, she was a great friend that we are all 
going to miss. We know that she has gone home to be with the Lord and she is 
happy and smiling down on all of us. The family would like to thank the Heart 
Hospital Staff for the great care and compassion they gave to Helen. In lieu 
of flowers, donations should be made to The American Cancer Society in Memory 
and Honor of Helen Dodds.
