Hazel Grace Hughes 
Nov. 16, 1921 - Jan. 29, 2006 

Visitation for Hazel Grace Hughes will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 
Niles Street) on Thursday, February 2, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside 
services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday morning, February 
3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Ken Armstrong will officiate. Hazel was born 
November 16, 1921 in Seiling, Oklahoma and was the youngest of 11 children. 
She passed away January 29, 2006 in Bakersfield, California. In 1940, Hazel 
married the love of her life, Odis Hughes and together they raised 5 children 
here in Bakersfield. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Verla Frazier. 
Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband of 65 years, Odis Hughes; 
brother, Hollie Morris; children, Albert Hughes, Odis Hughes Jr. and his wife, 
Shirley, Darla Hoeper and her husband, Greg all of Bakersfield, Anna Welch and 
her husband, Ronnie of Konowa, OK; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 6 
great great-grandchildren. Everyone was always welcome in her home and she 
loved her family dearly. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and even throughout 
her disease, she never skipped a key on the piano. She was a special person 
who touched many hearts throughout her life and will be missed by all of those 
who knew her. We will forever "love you with all of our hearts and half our
