The authority on everything, this big man known to many as Slim stood 6-7 high and weighed over 290 lbs. Jerry grew up in Lemon Grove, CA and attended Helix High School. A true athlete, Jerry excelled in many sports and gained a scholarship in football to the University of Tennessee. He later graduated from State College Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro in 1958. Jerry played football, basketball, baseball, tennis and track. Jerry held the basketball rebounding record for many years before Bill Walton later broke his record. Jerry went on and played professional football in 1958 for the Toronto Argonauts and was drafted to the Blue Raiders Hall of Fame at Middle Tennessee State. Jerrys love of his life, Linda, were married for 49 years. He is survived by his three daughters, Christy Gretlein, Jeri Janes and Autumn Arias; four grandchidlren and one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Joe Jr. and Jimmy. No funeral ceremony is planned.
