John Hance Jr.
October 27, 1921 - April 27, 2005

Services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2005, 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial 
Park, for John Hance Jr. who passed away, Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the 
age of 83, in the presence of his family. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 
1st from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

John was born October 27, 1921, to parents, Jeanie and John Hance in Coal 
Hill, Arkansas. John married his lifelong love, Helen on March 29, 1941. After 
getting married John joined the military and served in the Army during World 
War II from 1943 1945.

After the military John worked on the Davis Dam in Arizona. In 1948, John and 
his family moved to California where he began his 32-year career with Shell 
Oil as a Head Well Puller. John also served as a Deacon at Fairfax Assembly of 
God Church for over 30 years.

Preceding John in death was his beloved wife, Helen, of 61 years; his son, 
John; son-in-law, Chuck Moore; brothers, Gurvis Hance Uncie, Jim Hance and 
sister, Juanita Sis. John is survived by daughters, Christine Moore, Geraldine 
Hance; son and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Joyce Hance, all residents of 
Bakersfield; grandchildren, David Moore, Belinda Shores, J.W. Hance, Leeann 
Hance, Sarah and Charlie Hance and 16 great-grandkids; brother, Reverend 
Truman Hance and sister, Geneva Ashlor.

Pap will be missed by all of us who loved going camping with him and listening 
to his great stories.
