He loved his job as a truck driver, but decided to retire when he was diagnosed with cancer in July 2001. He stayed in shape by riding his bicycle usually 50 miles a day. He was one of the best fast-pitch softball pitchers in California at one time. Nolen was an avid sports fan baseball was his favorite. He loved to go antiquing, especially looking for old cigar and cigarette containers. Upon retirement Nolen and Claudine traveled throughout the U.S. in their motorhome and had some great fun. Special thanks to LJ Willingham for being a great brother to Nolen and spending so much time with him over the last year; to CBCC for your tender care; and Optimal Hospice Care for helping Nolen live his last days with dignity.
